What are the translation requirements for the Canadian Express Entry system?

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website, applications for permanent residence programs are subject to the Express Entry completeness check.

“If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with an English or French translation stamped by a certified translator or accompanied by an affidavit from the person who completed the translation, if it is not possible to have the translation done by a certified translator.

The translation package should include: 1)  a copy of the source document used by the translator, 2) the translation of all contents of the original document in either English or French. 

Note: 

  • The source document and the translation must either be stamped by the translator or referred to in the affidavit.
  • A scan of the original document or a scan of a certified photocopy of the original document”.

In sum, the translation package must include the following:

  1. A copy of the original document used by the translator and a translation of the entire content of the original document in English or French.
  2. The source document (a copy of the original) and the translation must be stamped by the translator or mentioned in the declaration.
  3. A scan of the original document or a scan of a certified photocopy of the original document.

That is, when doing your translation, that translator must along with your stamped translation OR with an affidavit, send the copy of the original document with either the stamp of the translator OR mentioned in the affidavit.
